Our Luminairs are shipped without cables.

Often we are asked by our customers why we don’t include a connection cable with the luminaire. There are several reasons for this, which are explained in this article.

Every indoor garden is different

The EVO series is designed as a professional lighting system that is used both in commercial horticulture and by hobby growers. From a cultivation area of one square meter, we recommend the use of several lights, as the homogeneity is significantly improved and the light is diffusely distributed over the cultivation area. Small areas, on the other hand, can be illuminated with one light. The typical SANlight customer places the highest demands on his lighting system and usually expects perfect as well as safe cabling. These customers often use the option of daisy chaining via our professional IP65 protected connector system. Assuming that each luminaire comes with a connection cable, this customer group would have to dispose of the supplied and paid cables. This not only wastes valuable raw materials, but also pollutes the environment.

IP65 protection & safety

Cultivating plants involves the use of water and often chemicals. Water in combination with electric current can lead to problems. In the simplest case, a contact chars and the light switches off. In extreme cases, however, it becomes a fire hazard. Therefore all our cables are IP65 protected. This is especially crucial on the power-carrying connection side, i.e. the mains side. With 20 years of experience in horticulture, we have read about a number of burned out indoor gardens and in some cases seen them live.

A clean certification of the luminaire as a horticultural luminaire with a cable that is not water protected is not permitted

We offer connection cables for the direct connection of the light to the socket, H-distributors and various extension cables for daisy chaining.
